Watching

Tonight we actually had just enough daylight to take a little stroll in Schiller Park after dinner.

What were those little web-footed friends watching, anyway?  Each other?  The patterns that light make on the water?  Something that was going away, perhaps…or something that would stay.  Either way, what is the watch for?  Maybe the watch is just simply…the watch.

That works.

I just read a Buddhist slogan this evening that alarmed me at first.

Abandon any hope of fruition.

When you first hear those words, it can give your heart a jolt!  Or, maybe make it sink.  But after that, can you notice an opening?  A new freedom?  Can you see how the hope of fruition can get in the way of being here right now?

Could it be that the ducks know something we have yet to fully discover?  Hard to say, but worth a ponder.

Be well, and at peace,
