Mercy
Tonight at choir rehearsal, we were working on the setting of Psalm 51 by Gregorio Allegri.
Miserere (Allegri)–Tallis Scholars
Praying to God for mercy reminds us to be merciful to each other. We all need it, don’t we?
This afternoon, while teaching, it became apparent to me what happens to children who are not taught to shown mercy to others, or show it themselves. It is a very sad thing. When that happens, simple things become extremely big and overwhelming.
I really wanted to comfort her, but her friend was doing that as well as anyone could.
For a little while, I became that frightened child, who really had nothing to worry about, and it reminded me what happens when we live under stern judgment.
We all are offered mercy, and can offer it in return.
Help us to remember that.
Be well, and at peace,
Phil
