The Dangerous Dichotomy

There are so many things I could write about today, but for some reason, this particular topic stuck in my mind.

Look at this picture that I took today.

autumn-2008

I wonder if I might ask you some questions about what you see…is the scene organic or geometric? Can you see where one object ends and another begins? Are you sure? Is the tree with the golden leaves at peak, or past it? Not sure? Neither am I.

I have been reflecting on the dangerous dichotomy which dominates western culture. With trepidation (in some cases), kindly allow me to guide you through a list of some examples which have been on my mind today.

Right…Wrong

Rich…Poor

Republican…Democrat

Living…Dead (this one really perplexes me!)

Beautiful…Ugly

Conservative…Liberal

East…West

Us…Them

Me…You

Just how useful is this way of thinking?

Be well, and at peace,

Phil
