A Children’s Book That Isn’t Just for Children

Today, in my school library, I noticed that the librarian had displayed a book with a compelling title:

Zen Shorts by Jon J Muth

Zen–it’s for kids too!

Jon has done a wonderful thing with the “stories within the story,” giving them a different illustrative style to set them apart in the reader’s mind.

If I had a child, this book would be on the preferred bedtime reading list!  The zen stories are:

Uncle Ry and the Moon

A Heavy Load

The Farmer’s Luck

And, the next time your in your library or bookstore, you might find yourself perusing the children’s section–it’s not just for kids any more!

    That book is one of my favorite of the kids’ books, and not just because I have developed an awesome panda voice for it. I adore Muth’s work.
