My jar is being shaken…

The world of public education is never a dull moment.  Very soon, I will be meeting about 600 shining faces, looking to me for something.

Right up until the moment they walk in the door Wednesday morning, lots of things will need to change.  I mean lots. We are facing all sorts of issues with crowding at one of my schools!  Several classes are rather large, and adding another room seems inevitable.  Of course, that means being moved out of the room that was assigned to me last spring, and going back to music on a cart.  No worries!  Over the last ten years, I have developed an incredibly flexible model of existence, out of necessity.  If you are a tree in such a windstorm, it’s best that you be able to bend, because if you don’t, you might SNAP, and we don’t want that to happen, now do we?

I had an image today of a jar full of oddly-shaped objects.  Someone shakes the jar.  Things move around, adjust, change position. Just when all the objects think they’ve found their home, the jar shakes again.  More shifting.  Eventually, all the shaking will stop, and you can settle down, now.

The beginning of the school year is always like that jar. Or that tree. Or something else. Just think about that for a while now…

Be well, and at peace,

Phil
