The Windy City

We’re here! Chicago is beautiful today–hot, but beautiful. We had a tad bit of a scare, since there was a big storm that came through yesterday, and we were low on gas by the time we reached northwest Indiana. Many people had no electricity, and for a while we feared that we would run out of fuel! Thankfully, we found a station that had electricity, and so we were good to go.

First order of business was to check into the hotel, which allowed us to check in early, as well as valet the car (we won’t be seeing it until we leave tomorrow for Milwaukee).

Once we checked in, off to Alladin’s Eatery around the corner for the Lebanese version of fast food. Delicious, and not too hard on the wallet. Then a liesurely walk to Lincoln Park, to spend some time with my favorite Lake Michigan. Finally, we stopped for some delicious gelato at Baladoche. The young woman behind the counter was nice enough to give us samples of everything!

I am just a little sad right now, becuase try as I might, the hotel computer will not allow me to upload photos. I will insert them on Friday when we are back a Doris and Ray’s for the evening. But I’m only a little sad…

Know that life is good. Smile, and look all around you. Sometimes you can do it with the camera. Sometimes you can do it without. And you can just imagine the pictures that I might post of pocket gardens with lovely daylilies, and happy people feeling the breeze of Lake Michigan on their face, and delicious food on the table of a Lebanese restaurant, and the surprised expression of a delightful young woman behind a counter at a gelato shop…and may more things, now can’t you? And who knows, maybe the sights and sounds and tastes and smells in your mind are just as beautiful or even more beautiful than the ones I bring you…and just enjoy that!

Be well, and at peace,

Phil
